William Menchine

Will (“Billy”) grew up in Palo Alto and worked in bicycle shops as a teenager before moving to Santa Cruz in 1973. He was the lead mechanic and an eventual owner of the Bicycle Trip in the “Soquel at Seabright” days. His skills as a master mechanic and wheel builder helped to establish the shop’s early reputation for excellence. After leaving a career in bicycles in the 1980’s he received an AS in Electronics and worked for 20 years in engineering, product development and marketing at Raytek. Will is a life-long sport and utility cyclist, active in bicycle advocacy and with the SCCRTC’s Bicycle Advisory Committee. His vision is to see Santa Cruz become the “Portland” of the Central Coast with respect to everyday bicycle use and bicycling friendly infrastructure.
